Charlotte House of the Week #120-1784 Mission Rd York SC
This weeks Charlotte House of the Week #120: 1784 Mission Road took us down into South Carolina and over to York. We were thankful to have a perfect Sunny Fall Day to enjoy this particular property. We had planned on taking an hour and a half to tour the home and capture what we could of the 12+ acres. We quickly found we needed more time and ended up taking 2 hours to get the videos and pictures we could for those who can’t get over to York to tour. They would be able to get a feel for the property and all it has to offer in the pictures and Videos we upload.
The scenic drive in on Mission Rd was lined with black fences that ran along side the road separating the large parcels of land yet still making it feel like a community. We drove by houses and fields. Some with beautiful horses and another with cute little goats. By the time we pulled up to 1784 Mission Rd we already felt like we left all the hustle and bustle behind well before driving down the long gravel driveway to the home. As we pulled around the bend we stopped just to appreciate the home as it appeared out of it tree filled surroundings. The welcoming porch, the three car garage, the quiet, the privacy this property has. As a hawk flew overhead of us we just stood there soaking it all in. The weather was perfect, not too hot, not too cold, just right with a gentle breeze. Moving onto the porch we just scanned everything in eye sight, just appreciated the beauty of the land surrounding this home. Being in the south having a porch is a definite must have, and this home has it in spades. Long enough to have seating on both sides of the door. I can see just sitting there in the morning with a cup of coffee as the sun comes up. The evenings with watching the sun go down and the stars and the moon shining above at night. After only two steps leading up to the porch and the front door, everything in this house is all on one floor. Walking into the home your greeted with vaulted ceilings and a large open floor plan that takes you from the dinning room into the great room and the kitchen. Like any married couple Tony and I each went to what we gravitated to. I went left and to the back porch and the back yard and pool. Tony went right taking in the Kitchen andDinning room.
The sun was still coming up as I walked into the backyard, a cool fall morning. The pool was sitting there clear as glass. A heated swimming pool that has a current for those who want to do more then soak, but wish to swim laps. Looking up and scanning the back of the house there is a porch/deck that goes along the back of the house. I walked back into the house using the door that attaches to a full bath, which comes in handy I’m sure after using the pool. And appreciated the layout and the walk into the large spacious laundry room that offers views of the front of the house and to the garage. In the meantime my husband was off and exploring the large Chef’s kitchen, the dinning room and the open floor plan to the Great room. Neither of us had made it to the primary yet, so of course we were in each others way as we went to take a peek. Having a primary on main has become a more common request. This one was spacious and the light was coming in through the windows and through the primary bathroom. Tucked away behind the kitchen, it offered the privacy away from the rest of the house. The benefit of this floor plan is offering everything all on one level and both porches flowing from the front and back of the house. All Accessible.
With 12 acres to explore there is a lot of ground to cover around the house. Next to the three car garage is a carport and the sellers used this area to store a golf cart. They where kind enough to offer the use of this golf cart to see and tour the property. Which isn’t the norm for us. It was fun and helpful to use this golf cart to see as much as we could in a short period of time. They had trails cut out around their property with adirondack chairs to sit under a tree and enjoy the views. Another area had a bench under another clearing area to enjoy this little slice of heaven. We took it to the side away from the house where you could enjoy the fields surrounding the home (reminded me of the song Fields of Gold) A song which I did use later with a quick video of the breathtaking views around the home. So if you are looking for a home with some land this might be the one for you.
